The Results Are In!!!
And the winners are — the employees and visitors of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce and the Mount Airy Visitor Center!!! They can all breathe cleaner air, thanks to Air Oasis™ Air Purification Systems supplied by Healthy Technologies of Pilot Mountain. Four of these systems were purchased by Rick Vaughn, Manager of Historic Downtown MA, LLC/Granite Development, LLC in September of this year. They were mounted in the HVAC supply ducts of the Chamber and Visitors Center by Pilot Mechanical, also of Pilot Mountain. The affordable, state-of-the-art systems are “The Electronic Solution to Indoor Pollution™”, using no filters or harmful
chemicals.
Air samples were collected to compare the Indoor Air Quality, prior to installation of the air purification systems and again on December 7. The air samples were sent to an independent, accredited laboratory in Greensboro for analysis.

The laboratory reports show a 76% improvement in Indoor Air Quality!
These systems can be easily installed in homes and commercial buildings with HVAC ductwork. Attractive portable systems are available for buildings without HVAC ducts or with special Indoor Air Quality problems. Call 336-499-2505

The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) and the North Carolina Military Foundation (Foundation) co-hosted the 2009 North Carolina Military Construction (MILCON) Summit at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center on October 27, 2009.

The purpose of the event was to connect government officials with prime and specialty contractors, designers and construction suppliers in North Carolina. Businesses in North Carolina will develop contacts and information critical to leveraging $5-7 billion in MILCON opportunities in North Carolina by 2013.

Attending the Summit from the Mt. Airy/Pilot Mountain area were Steve Loftis from NCFI, Donnie Fletcher from Omega Construction, Glen Coleman and Florene Miller, both from Healthy Technologies, Inc.,

Airborne Infectious Diseases

Airborne Infectious Diseases - ASHRAE Position Document by ashrae.org
This position document has been written to provide the membership of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and other interested persons with information on the health consequences of exposure to airborne infectious disease and on the implications of this knowledge for the design, installation and operation of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. In this paper three methods of transmission of Airborne Infectious Diseases are discussed, namely through direct contact, large droplet contact, and inhalation of droplet nuclei.[FULL STORY]

Swine Flu (H1N1) Contingency Plan
Many agencies recently announced that employers should develop a contingency plan to prepare for the Swine Flu outbreak. This plan explains what to do when an employee contracts Swine Flu and how to prepare for large numbers of absent employees. You can view some of these tips by clicking here. What was failed to be mentioned is how to help PREVENT Swine Flu in the work place, outside of washing your hands and not talking face to face. Air and surface sanitizers are a great PREVENTATIVE measure!

Breakthrough UV Air Sanifier™ Technology! www.healthyti.com
The Air Oasis technology is proven effective against MRSA and may be part of the answer for many more of today's "Super Bugs", such as Swine Flu.
Studies conducted by West Texas A&M university at BSA Hospital confirm that Air Oasis Air Sanifier™ technology not only purifies your air, but sanitizes surfaces. This study measured reductions in methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA on surfaces.
This study also measured reductions in other microbes and fungus. There was a 75% reduction in microbes and fungus in only 8 hours of use. Other studies show an almost complete eradication over longer periods of exposure.
Studies have also proven effective treatment on the concentration of indoor aeroallergern concentration.
Current ongoing studies are aimed at proving reductions in VOC and odors. These tests will be conducted against formaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, carbon disulfide and more. We also plan to conduct studies on additional contaminants.

Mt. Airy NC Chamber Installs Green, State-of-the Art Air Sanitation Technology

Press Release
Mount Airy, NC – How fresh and clean the offices smell may be the first thing visitors notice in the recently renovated offices of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce and the Mount Airy Visitor Center at 200 North Main Street. The fresh clean smell is not due to a typical, over-the-counter chemical-based air freshener. It is the result of green, state-of-the-art, air sanitation technology called Air Oasis supplied by Healthy Technologies, Inc. based in Pilot Mountain.

As part of the renovation, the Chamber and Visitor Center became the first public offices in the region with this new technology installed in the HVAC duct work to drastically reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases and to refresh the air. The energy-efficient units, which were installed in the historic building, electronically sanitize the air and surfaces continuously without using filters or harmful chemicals.

In tests conducted in university laboratories, this technology reduced Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) 97% in two hours and the Avian Influenza Virus (Bird Flu) 100% in ten hours. Healthy Technologies’ President, Florene Miller stated, “MRSA and flu viruses have become a potentially serious problem for many public facilities. Visitors and staff will now be able to enter the Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center offices, confident that a major, innovative, pro-active step has been taken to protect them from the spread of many different types of infectious diseases.”

Rick Vaughn, Manager of Historic Downtown MA, LLC/Granite Development, LLC purchased the purifiers specifically for the Chamber and the Visitor Center renovation project and is to be commended for his efforts to protect the staff and visitors of the Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce and of the Mount Airy Visitor Center.
